Sharing Our Near Death Stories:
What a Gift

Sharing our near death stories can be such a gift for all of us facing our own dying or the death of a loved one, especially when there is fear.

bamboo, leaves, sky, light I am looking for personal stories about death, about dying. Not the dramatic ones of violent deaths we see on TV. Of crimes of passion we see in the movies.

I am looking for the stories of ordinary people. Dying ordinary deaths. Under ordinary circumstances.

We don't seem to have enough stories of these kinds of ordinary death. We seem to have relegated dying into the hospitals and often behind closed doors. We seem to get to see the body afterward, but we don't hold their hands during the dying.

We seem to have forgotten how ordinary dying actually is: We are all human. We are all going to die. Sometime in the future. How more ordinary can it get?

Interestingly enough, all of this ordinariness can change our days. Can give our lives new meaning. Can lighten up our ordinary existence.

It can sanctify us way beyond ourselves.

I am available as an inspirational speaker

Invisible Gates

When invisible gates are open wide
and reaching hands are plenty
When autumnal leaves learn to fly
and vistas expand into softness
Let's call into the depth of our knowing
For simple answers to roost in our hearts

When far away hilltops seem within reach
and carry an air of silly afterthoughts
When dear friends know exactly how we feel
and send fresh bouquets of open arms
Let's walk on the edge one step at a time
and find ourselves held by so many smiles

This is one way home in dying
This is one way home in dying
